Zimmerman acquitted. Let the wild rumpus begin

CLEVELAND, July 13, 2013 -- Just thought you'd like to know: George Zimmerman has just been acquitted by an all-female jury. We chanced to catch a bulletin on the verdict whilst sitting at an airport hotel bar not long after we checked in. We thought you'd like to know as we work to revive our old and long-dormant blog.

The whole thing was quite surreal. This particular bar, like most bars these days, was running baseball coverage which was suddenly interrupted by the report. Since we'd been on the road all day, traveling from DC to Cleveland, catching this report live was a long shot.

But now that the news is blasting out, it will be interesting to see if we get a second act tonight or tomorrow night. News trickled out this week that the Obama Administration's so-called Justice Department (DOJ) agitated to get George Zimmerman arrested in the days following his shooting of Treyvon Martin. Now that the Chicago Gang has been thwarted in its attempt to racialize this tragic incident, it will be interesting to see if the various threats from various race-baiters to riot in Florida and everywhere else will come to fruition.

We'll have more later. But right now, this verdict, which we regard as entirely justified, is news enough.

UPDATING: Didn't take long for the vile left wing trolls to start spamming this stuff. Via the invaluable Twitchy:

Seriously. You can't make this stuff up.

Second Reboot Attempt

Well, we tried to get this old blog fired up again earlier this year and were distracted by a million other things. So now we'll try again. After a couple of experimental short columns to check out all the new Blogger tools we've been missing out on, we'll try to get fired up here once again. We've been gone from this site for a long time, but that doesn't mean we haven't been busy. Back again soon.

Reviving a dead horse

Gee, we've been gone a long time. Luther has been up to his eyeballs with any number of issues, and Wonker has been busy doing numerous columns and editing on another site. But the Wonk has decided to start moving some material back to HazZzmat, so stay tuned for a return of our pithy, snarky, and occasionally cutting commentary on all things political, media, arts, and financial. We should have our act in gear in just a few days, at which point we'll find out what it's like to re-animate a nearly-deceased bloogspot.
