Federal 5th Columnists Protect Their Own

Funny that a story by Josh Gerstein in the New York Sun, detailing how lefty moles in the Department of State and in our intelligence agencies have been working, via leaks, to destroy the Bush Administration's policies, has yet to surface in the MSM. That's no doubt due to the MSM's complicity in trumpeting these damaging (and occasionally untrue or misleading) leaks to the known universe.

Making matters worse, it seems that many of the leakers and their lawyers have effectively stonewalled the Department of Justice's attempts to out them. In today's Sun, an editorial sums things up:
All this underscores the likelihood that we have had agencies of the American government breaking the law to defeat a military campaign into which the American Congress, by an overwhelming vote, sent our GIs. These implications were sensed immediately by the blogosphere, where Powerlineblog.com lit up on Mr. Gerstein's story at the crack of dawn, and on the airwaves, where Rush Limbaugh devoted part of his broadcast to Mr. Gerstein's story. Said Mr. Limbaugh, "It's become more and more obvious that there is a symbiotic relationship between these agencies — we're talking about State, we're talking about the Pentagon, CIA — there's a symbiotic relationship between these agencies and the drive-by media now, and they're not going to let an election get in their way … They've got their own agendas. … If they have to destroy the policies of a particular administration, they'll do it via leaks, and then when these criminal leaks are investigated, they don't participate."
Yep. Their agenda, BTW, is socialism, pure and simple, something the Sun editorial writer was too polite to mention.

A dirty little secret, well known inside the Beltway but virtually unknowable in the rest of the country, is that the Federal bureaucracy never considers a Republican presidency to be a legitimate presidency. Legitimacy is reserved only for Democrats in this peculiar way of thinking. Thus, anti-democratic Democrats in the bureaucracy work 24/7 to thwart any and all policies of any Republican administration, reasoning (correctly) that such policies go against the grain of entrenched, Euro-coddling, Gramscian policy wonks who'd rather see the U.S. go socialist sooner than later. (And get a pat on the head from the Euro-elite for their efforts.)

The extensive leftist machinery hidden from view in the nation's capitol cranks into high gear any time a Republican is in the White House. The overall goal is to push as many leftist policies and entitlements as possible into law while a Democrat holds the White House while limiting as much as possible the counter-moves of GOP presidential winners. Six steps to the left, one step to the right. Repeat. That's how this country has gotten progressively more screwed up over the last 60 years or so.

It's increasingly clear that only a good, solid 40-50 year run of conservative Republican presidents will be able to break this unbelievable and un-American Wall of Marxist and Socialist bureaucrats and fellow travelers. It's a real challenge to explain this to the American people, but we'll keep trying.
