Joe Wilson Divided -- Can He Stand?

Which one do you believe?

An attorney for Mr. Wilson, Christopher Wolf, said his client was "quite distressed" to hear of Mr. Bush's alleged role..."It certainly sounds like there was collaboration within the White House on the leaking of Valerie Wilson's identity," Mr. Wolf said...., Wave of Criticism Engulfs Bush Over Leak Case, Josh Gerstein, NY Sun, 4/7/2006

Former Ambassador Joseph Wilson acknowledges in a CNN interview that, “My wife was not a clandestine officer the day that Bob Novak blew her identity.”....Wilson: Plame Not Clandestine When Novak Wrote Story, James Joyner, Outside the Beltway, 7/15/2005

How can Ambassador Wilson be both upset about his wife being exposed as a clandestine officer when he has already acknowledged that she was no longer a clandestine officer when she was discussed by Robert Novak?

Clue: the memory of the average American -- that's you and me -- is notoriously short

Clue 2: Ambassador Wilson might be a) embarrassed by blowing the whistle on his wife's claim of illegal exposure and b) distressed that somebody might think he was full of crap

No more clues.
