More Murtha Murk

The Rust Belt's answer to Pravda, once a great American newspaper known as the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports breathlessly today on a Great American War Hero's latest breathtaking proclamations:

U.S. Rep. John Murtha's booming Marine colonel's voice filled the tight spaces between Greater Clevelanders packed into the City Club Friday to hear him protest President Bush's war on Iraq.

He repeated the message he began trumpeting in November: that American military efforts in Iraq are failing and will continue to fail, while costing taxpayers $450 billion by the year's end. The 37-year decorated Marine and 32-year congressman from Pennsylvania said..."We needed to win the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people." Instead, more than 40 percent of them say it is all right to kill Americans.

Obviously, this born-again leftie is trying to undo President Bush's recent trip to Ohio. Just so you get the context of Murtha's speechifying lately, check out this muddled jpeg showing you the types of people he's been hanging with lately:

You guessed it. He's happy to earn the praise of Code Pinko heroines, co-founder Gael Murphy and DC coordinator Allison Yorra. (Hat tip to Gateway Pundit.) This organization, notable for its vitriolic hatred of Amerikkka and its ghoulish and despicable demonstrations dishonoring our wounded vets at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center is yet another radical left cadre with vague ties to the Stalinist Workers World Party. (They also imagine an economy that doesn't run on oil, but when questioned, breeze right past the details they don't have.)

This is pretty much the last credibility straw for this preening clown. Between Murtha and Kerry, we're sick to death of hearing how "patriotic" such former soldiers are. And we're no longer going to put up with this "37-year decorated Marine and 32-year congressman" defense. Whether an individual has spent 3 years or 37 years in the military or not has no bearing on his intelligence, sanity, or rationality. Respect Murtha's service? Yep. But does this give him, or Kerry for that matter, a permanent teflon coating when it comes to committing treason? (For the answer to that question, check with Benedict Arnold.)

Reality check: Former Republican Representative Duke Cunningham, also touted as a "war hero," had no trouble soaring to unearned wealth and thence to jail and disgrace via lobbyist bribes. The MSM never gave this "war hero" a pass.

Of course, a leftie might rebut, what kind of crime is Murtha commiting? Oh, just treason, as laid out in Article III, Section 3 of the U.S. constitution, as in "adhering to their [the U.S.'s] enemies, giving them aid and comfort." Well, it's an issue of free speech, will be the next rejoinder. Nope, not when it helps prolong the Iraqi "insurgency" run by the murderous Al Zarqawi, just as it prolonged the bloodletting in the Vietnam War.

Anyone who "supports our troops" will back total victory against Al Qaeda in Iraq. In backing the insurgency, which he's effectively doing, Murtha seems eager for a repeat performance of Vietnam, a leftist obsession and one that our opponents are well aware of as they try to wear us down. They know the U.S. Armed Forces can't be defeated by them. But they know that "war heroes" like Murtha and Kerry can and will do the job for them.

If we really do care for our troops, it's time to give Code Pinko-loving frauds like Murtha the hook in this fall's elections. It's the least we can do for them.
