With the Washington Post doing its best to trash Michael Steele of Maryland and George Allen of Virginia on the brink of Election Day 2006, with the dire warnings of potential ballot fraud in Maryland (due to its botched, Democrat-led implementation of electronic voting), and with the MSM's near-universal declaration of myriad Democratic victories across this land, do we sense some nervousness on the part of the Dems?
It is hilarious that Dems are now hunting for voter-fraud, real or about-to-be-committed, in Maryland, one of the bluest of the blue states? (See also my recent post on this.) Could it actually be that Republican Governor Ehrlich might pull off his own re-election and that Republican Lieutenant Governor Steele might actually do the impossible and pull the black vote away from the Democrats in that state—a state that has traditionally failed to support Democratic black candidates for major offices in that state? And thus, win that state's Senate contest?
Ground work is being laid by the Democrats to contest, ruinously, any outcome that would give Steele a narrow victory. It's been fascinating to watch this. I predict one hell of a mess here on Wednesday morning if there's not a clear winner. I am putting my money on Steele as the actual winner when the polls close on Tuesday evening. I think Maryland blacks are fed up with Democratic hypocrisy and will vote accordingly. Whether those votes will be counted, however, will be determined by the Democrats, not the Republicans. There will almost certainly be voter fraud, particularly in Baltimore. But if you're looking at the Repubs, you're looking at the wrong party folks. Stay tuned.
