In an interview with Laura Haim on Canal Plus, a French television station, Mr. Obama noted that the United States also could be considered as "one of the largest Muslim countries in the world."...no matter what Muslim spokespeople in the U.S. puff and huff, the Muslim population of this country is estimated to be at most two million, illegal immigrants included, not the 6-7 million number they casually throw around...Obama Really Is From Another Planet, Ethel Fenig, American Thinker, 6/6/2009
Writer Fenig is onto something, and her suggestion is interesting that the White House's subliminal message may have been to encourage more immigration from the Middle East. But the writer thinks she missed the whole thing. The President, a noted intellectual, could have been speaking on two levels, geographically, and theologically. The United States is a pretty big land mass, bigger than the whole Middle East. Theologically, to a strict clerical interpretation of Islam, non-Muslims are not human. As such, the 297 million Americans who are not Muslim are not to be counted as the vast majority of people occupying the United States. The only people here, theologically speaking, are the 2-7 million Muslims.
Or perhaps the President is hoping to preserve, protect and defend the 297 million by pretending they don't exist as potential jihadist targets.
